Hello Friends!
So... it's been a LONG time since I've last blogged. It's mostly been because we have been running here and there, keeping ourselves QUITE busy. The other part of it is that I'm lazy. So, to catch up as quickly as possible, we've hung out with friends, karaoke-d to our hearts content, had our first married Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's Eve, we've babysat some adorable new babies and have enjoyed some fun (and not so fun) times with family. Overall, 2012 has been great, except for my ever expanding waistline. No, this is not a pregnancy annoucement. This is an, I'm lazy and it's finally catching up with me annoucement. Anyway, a friend of mine just finished a sugar detox and found a lot of success with it. I thought this might be the best way to kick off my plan/goal to eat better. So, yesterday I started the 21 day sugar detox and I thought a way I could keep myself even more accountable would be to blog about my experience. So, here goes.
Day 1... was TERRIBLE!! I wanted chocolate SO bad (which made me realize just how addicted to sugar I am... YIKES). I had already felt defeated before I even started!! I was telling myself "I can't do this. I can't do this. I don't really want to do this!!". Although, I would like to fit into my pants again, so I guess I really do want to do this. However, I powered through the first day. I drank more water yesterday than I probably have in the last month and by the end of the day I was really not doing too bad. I made some delicious broiled chicken and asparagus for lunch and made some salsa to have as a snack throughout the week (there is STILL jalapeno on my hands, a shower and like, 20 handwashings later). So, all in all, day one went as well as I could have imagined it would go.
Day 2. Well, I'm only about halfway through day 2, but I'm doing well. I've been drinking water like I'm going to run out tomorrow!! I had a VERY light breakfast (which is not too different from my norm anyway). I had a brown rice cake snack in the morning and then had leftovers from yesterday for lunch and then I snacked on some peanuts this afternoon. Tonight, I plan on making brown rice pasta with meat sauce for dinner. I'll report back tomorrow with the verdict on brown rice pasta. I'm not missing my sweets too much, but it is only the 2nd day. I still REALLY want some chocolate, but, I'm determined to power through!! The main goal is to get some immediate weight loss results so that I am more motivated to keep up the lifestyle (with some changes after the initial detox) so that maybe I can keep the weight off!! That's what I have to keep telling myself. I have to keep the end goal in mind!!! The only negative side effect so far is that I have been EXTREMELY tired both yesterday and today without my usual caffeine boost throughout the day. Thankfully, I have not had any headaches or "withdrawl" symptoms, just really tired. Hopefully, I get over that quickly!!
Anyway, I am going to blog about my progress every day!! So, if only for a little while, there will be an update every day!!
Also, I'll try to do a better catching up with the Bradfords blog post soon!!
